Il giorno 11 marzo 2013, è stato presentato il primo rapporto “BES – Benessere Equo e Sostenibile” frutto della collaborazione CNEL-ISTAT e del lavoro congiunto del Comitato di Indirizzo (stabilito presso il CNEL), che ha definito i domini da monitorare, e della Commissione Scientifica (istituita presso l’ISTAT), che ha individuato e selezionato gli indicatori.
La presentazione è stata ospitata dala Camera dei Deputati e si svolta alla presenza del Presidente della Repubblica e del Governo.

Nel giugno del 2012, nell’ambito di questo progetto, il CNEL ha pubblicato un documento (“La misurazione del Benessere EQuo e Sostenibile – BES”) nel quale si ripercorre tutto l’iter, in prospettiva storica, che ha condotto a questa prestigiosa iniziativa. In tale documento si descrivono (paragrafo 1.10, pag. 22) le diverse iniziative legate allo studio e alla misurazione del benessere in Italia, tra le quali è segnalata anche l’Associazione Italiana per gli Studi sulla Qualità della Vita e le iniziative in atto.

the local perspective, addressing better policies”
“I think that at the local level probably the most important thing is to get a working, trust relation with non-specialists (elected officials, administrators, key community volunteers), and that in the long run, the processes and procedures used in communities is probably more important than any particular indicators an indexes developed. Primo Workshop Internazionale AIQUAV
“Exploring and exploiting quality of life complexity (QoLexity): epistemological, methodological
and statistical issues”
The workshop starts from some reflections and questions …
Classical approaches to evaluation look at complexity as an obstacle to measuring quality of life in effective and practical ways. They draw upon aggregative and compensative tools (e.g., Composite indicators) in order to remove multidimensionality and nuances, in favour of oversimplified measures and representations of quality of life.
But are those measures and representations faithful and useful ones?
Can they be trusted for policy and decision-making purposes?
Or complexity, multidimensionality and nuances are what really matters and should be taken into account in the evaluation and representation process?
The workshop is aimed at gathering social scientists, economists and statisticians to take stock of the situation and discuss issues and possible solutions in exploring and exploiting quality of life complexity.

SocialCohesion.Stat is a warehouse of statistics regarding social cohesion produced by the National Social Security Institute (Inps), the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat) and the Italian Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. It collects more than 700 indicators on crucial aspects of Italian society such as population dynamic, labour market, human capital, poverty, social security and income support, active labour market policies.
Through this work, sponsored by the National Statistical System (Sistan), a wealth of information on the socio-economic conditions and vulnerabilities of people and families is provided to citizens, researchers, policy makers and stakeholders as a source of knowledge and a tool to better design policy interventions aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens.
